Visual Artist – Theodoulos Gregoriou
Theodoulos Gregoriou was born in 1956 in Malounta. He studied painting at the Institute de Arte Plastice N. Grigorescu in Bucharest on a UNESCO scholarship, and later at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, also completing a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts.
He is a corresponding member of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts. His participation in the Venice Biennale in 1990 marked the beginning of his presence on the international art scene. Since then, he has exhibited in major galleries and institutions across Cyprus, Greece, Europe, Asia and Africa, including the Louvre Museum, Les Abattoirs in Toulouse, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC) in Bucharest.
In 1995, he created the public monument Resolution, dedicated to human rights, positioned at the last free point of Ledras Street before the crossing checkpoint. His works are held in public spaces, museums and private collections internationally, including UNESCO in Paris.
He lives and works between Nicosia and Paris.
