Sculptor – Philippos Yiapanis

Philippos Yiapanis originates from Famagusta and was born in 1957. During the Turkish invasion of 1974, he was held captive for 38 days in the prisons of Amasya and Adana. He studied at a naval engineering school in Greece.

Since 1994, he has been exclusively engaged in sculpture, working primarily with brass and marble, while also establishing the first artistic foundry in Cyprus. In 2007, he was invited to participate in the 6th Florence Biennale, while one of his works was selected in an international competition organised by the China Sculptors Association, the Jin Tai Museum and the Beijing Olympic Games Organising Committee.

He has presented his work in solo and group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad. His sculptures and monuments are installed in public spaces in Cyprus, Denmark and Switzerland.
