Constantia Soteriou
Constantia Soteriou was born in Nicosia. She studied at the Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cyprus and holds a postgraduate degree in Middle Eastern History from the University of Manchester. She works at the Press and Information Office of the Republic of Cyprus.
Her work has received awards in Cyprus and Greece. Notable publications include Ayşe is Going on Vacation, Voices Made of Soil, Bitter Country, Brandy Sour, and her most recent novel The Head of Chatsworth. In 2019, she won the Commonwealth Short Story Prize for the Europe and Canada region — and the global prize — for her story “Death Customs.” Her writing has been translated into several languages, and she is also active in theatre writing and children’s literature.
