Artist – Stavros Antonopoulos
Stavros Antonopoulos was born in 1962 in Nicosia. He studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence (1981–1985) and, in parallel, Fashion Design in Florence (1982–1984). In 1988, he continued his studies in scenography at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
Since 1985, he has participated in group exhibitions in France, Italy, Greece, Germany and Spain. His first solo exhibition took place in Nicosia in 1983, followed by solo presentations in Nicosia, Limassol, Florence and Paris.
In 1987, he received the Premio Internazionale d’Arte Moderna in Florence and the Prix Matisse from the French Embassy in Nicosia. He has also worked as a set and costume designer for the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and the Cyprus Theatre Organisation.
